Waiting for Superman discussion and showing

Thursday, October 6th- Waiting for Superman is a critically acclaimed  documentary about the state of education in America and the growing influence of charter schools. We believe this film has connection to the Books and Beyond project and it great for fostering conversation about education. Before showing this film, a discussion was held between faculty members and students in Foster Harper Formal Lounge. Faculty members and educators Beth Samuelson and Jesse Goodman provided a knowledgeable dialogue before the movie about the educational system and answered questions posed by the students.

After participating in the discussion and watching the film, Sabrina Sheehan felt she had a better grasp on the Books and Beyond Project itself. “This event gave me a better picture of what TEAM is about…This organization gives us the chance to work with young students, and through their writing and teamwork with us IU students, they realize how they can make an impact on other people’s lives.” Sabrina is a first year Books and Beyond volunteer.
