At the Sunday PR meeting, pens and pencils furiously scribbled, taking notes of a presentation. Laura Wheaton, Assistant Director of Development at IU, came to the Global Village to speak about fundraising techniques, tips, and etiquette. Wheaton is the “fundraising arm” of RPS which means she helps find funding to support student programs in residence halls. She explained to the team that fundraising is a transferrable skill and also the importance of creating and maintaining a relationship with people/businesses. The PR team took in all the knowledge she had to give and will be putting it to use as soon as possible! We really appreciate her coming in to speak with us! More training workshops/presentations will be available within the other teams of Books&Beyond in the future.
